Backup<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In HorseTrak choose “Backup Data Files” from the File menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the “…” button to select the LOCATION (Path) of where you want to store the backup.
Enter a name for the backup file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a multiuser system make sure no other users are in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click OK to perform the backup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restore<\/p>\n\n\n\n

** NOTE – the restore process will replace the current data. Run a back to save the current data before restoring. **<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In HorseTrak choose “Restore Saved Data Files” from the File menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click “Select Backup file set to restore” button and choose the backup file you want to restore. These usually start with “HT” and end with “.zip”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have selected the Backup file to Restore it will display in the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click “Restore Now” to restore the data or “Cancel” to return to the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Progress screen and Rebuild screen will process the data and you will be returned to the menu upon completion.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The problem with duplicate records is that the index needs to be rebuilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open HorseTrak<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click My Preferences -> My Preferences<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click the Repair\/Restore Old Data tab<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Data Repair is a button that says “Rebuild Next Number”. Click that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once it finishes, click Okay and try one of the entries you were having a problem with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contact Support if that does not work.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n

The usual procedure to move to a new machine is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Install HorseTrak on the new machine and activate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Run a data backup on the old machine’s HorseTrak – this is the built in backup function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Copy the Backup File to a Thumb Drive or attach it to an email so that you can get the backup file to the new machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Using the Restore function on the new machine, restore the backup data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Test and compare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the software on the old machine, you may need to upgrade the version of HorseTrak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Older versions are not compatible with newer versions of Windows.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  4. Expired Maintenance Plan reinstatement is available by paying retroactive maintenance fees.<\/li>
